Not sure what a podcast is?
If you’re not sure what a podcast is or does, please read on before subscribing.
A podcast is series of digital audio or video files that you download. You can listen to or watch a podcast on your computer or on a personal device. The term originally comes from a radio or TV-style broadcast suitable for an iPod. You can, however, play back podcasts on other brands of MP3 player and on mobile phones, too.
Popular software used to play media files on PCs and Apple Macs includes:
• Windows Media Player
• RealPlayer
• QuickTime Player.

Subscribe to automatic updates
Podcasts containing the latest news and developments are released in episodes. You can go onto a website to find the latest episode, but it’s much easier to subscribe to a podcast series.
You do this by subscribing to an RSS feed. When a new episode is released, your RSS feed picks this up and automatically downloads it for you.
You receive the updates from your favourite websites through a ‘podcatcher’. A podcatcher is a software application that automatically identifies new episodes in a series.
This means you can keep to up to speed with your favourite series without having to go and find episodes yourself. You can also access the full series to play at your leisure.
Popular podcatchers include:
• iTunes
• Zune
• Juice and
• Winamp.
